The Latin phrase Coram Deo means “before the face of God.” In medieval times, the church had degenerated into a stale institution and worship was seen as little more than a Sunday ritual. The Reformers denounced this shallow superficiality. Awakened by a renewed grasp of God’s glory in the gospel, they called Christians to live every moment Coram Deo. We stand on their shoulders and echo their call in our own generation. As those made alive by Jesus Christ, we long to see our neighborhoods, our city, and our world renewed and transformed by his grace and glory.
