Success is Secondary, God’s Presence is Primary | Genesis 39

He grew up in a complicated family. He endured betrayal, hardship, injustice, and isolation. Yet in one of the Bible’s most dramatic reversals, Joseph rose to a place of power and authority, delivering God’s people and preserving the covenant family. In this series, we explore Genesis 37-50, following the story of God's providence in the life of a “beloved son" who prefigures a Greater Son to come.

While Joseph’s initial moments in Egypt are full of prosperity and success, things quickly turn as he is falsely accused and thrown into another pit. While Joseph’s circumstances change, one thing doesn’t - the empowering presence of the Lord. What might this story teach us about true success, temptation and the need for God’s presence in all of life?
